Welcome
This blog advocates and continues to shed light on Domestic Violence Against Women which continues to plague women globally. The nudge of God has moved me to step into one of my life’s missions and come out of the shadows, not only to share my story and testimony but to advocate for those that are muted by their abusive oppressors. I felt it was time to speak to the women in numbers and be the example that’s needed to refuel their optimism as they began to reimagine the life in real time that God intended for them to have and live, which is a life of freedom.
Brief History
In a nutshell my story of domestic violence began when I was just a teenager, 16 years old to be exact. I stand as a survivor that made it to the other side of a more than 20-year battle. From the age of 16 to my last encounter with my abuser at the age of 36. I am 39 as of today – you do the math. It was a long unforeseen journey that I could have never imagined in my life. During my journey, I encountered intimate partner violence and abuse in various phases of the abuse cycle from physical, verbal, psychological, sexual, financial, emotional abuse, and stalking.
My Purpose
I have asked God on many occasions “Why Me”. I’d always equated my journey as punishment from God for disobeying my mom when she told me at the initial sight of my abuser that he was no good and to stay away from him. Daily I remind myself that God’s grace is sufficient, and He loves me despite all of mistakes and wrong choices. For a while I struggled with what to do with this journey, but along the way I found myself sharing my experience with others that have gone through similar experiences. Driving home one day during the pandemic, I heard some statistics on the radio about intimate partner violence and the percentage of incidents that were not reported. In that moment, I knew that I wasn’t alone and that there were people that shared my trauma. After the struggle and going through a roller coaster of emotions and talking to God, it was clear that the purpose of my pain was not only for me but for freeing others. So here I am, on a mission, joining the quest to help and save women, victims, and survivors.
As I share my story and testimony, my goal is that the content shared reaches, grabs hold of and revives the desire for relational normalcy that may have been lost during another's time of abusive oppression. And so, it begins…
Here's to cultivating a women’s empowerment and support community...
"The Takeaway"
Remember, everything that occurs in your life, whether positive or negative, will ultimately align with God's purpose for you. Even if something was intended to cause you harm, trust that God will turn it into something good.
Genesis 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.
